NEW DELHI: Delicious Washington apples, mouth-watering California pistachios and crunchy all-American popcorn are some of the highlights of the U.S. Pavilion at the ongoing Aahar-2010 food exhibition at Pragati Maidan here.

Inaugurating the pavilion on Thursday, United States Ambassador to India Timothy Roemer said India's cuisine and hospitality are world-renowned and the food items at the United States pavilion could add a healthy variety to the dinner tables and tiffins of people throughout India.

There are great similarities in the foods of the two countries and the participating U.S. food companies are pleased to do business in India and partner with Indian distributors, supermarkets, food processors, hotels and restaurant industry groups, he added.

Leading U.S. food industry groups are participating in the exhibition and showcasing a wide range of offerings. The exhibition is open up to March 14.
