Almost 48 hours after Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav ordered removal of ADG (Law & Order) Jagmohan Yadav, the State Government appointed ADG (Technical Services) Arun Kumar as the new ADG (L&O). A formal transfer order was issued late on Thursday night.

Mr. Yadav replaces Mr. Kumar as ADG (Technical Services).

An IPS officer of the 1985 batch, Mr. Kumar will also double up as ADG, Crime, Special Task Force (STF), Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and CCTNS (Crime & Criminals Tracking Network System).

In another transfer of an ADG-rank police officer, Jawahar Lal Tripathi, who was holding the rank of IG, Meerut Zone, has been moved as ADG (Personnel).

Handpicked by the present regime for the key post in police administration, Mr. Yadav, an IPS officer of the 1983 batch, was asked to quit by Mr. Yadav late on Tuesday night. He had stopped coming to office, but neither an order had been issued to this effect nor could the Government find a suitable replacement for the post two days after he was unceremoniously removed from the position. No reasons were given for Mr. Yadav’s removal, but it is understood that the Chief Minister was unhappy at the deterioration in the law and order and crime situation in the State.
