The reader of a Sub-Divisional Magistrate has been arrested for allegedly receiving a bribe from a shop owner to settle a case of noise pollution against him for Rs.20,000. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs.25,000.

The agency received a complaint from the shop owner alleging that Ram Kishan Sharma, reader with SDM kotwali, had been demanding Rs.25,000 to settle the complaint against him. The accused was arrested while receiving the bribe.

“The arrested accused was produced before the CBI Special Judge in a Tis Hazari court. He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days,” said a CBI spokesperson.
