NEW DELHI: A scuffle broke out between hospital guards and relatives of swine flu patients when they attempted to enter the isolation ward of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia hospital on Thursday morning. Several swine flu patients are undergoing treatment in this isolation ward.
“Relatives of swine-flu patients admitted with us wanted to get inside the isolation ward and when doctors and guards tried to convince them that this would be detrimental to their well-being, the relatives began arguing and insisted that they be allowed in. A scuffle broke out but the matter was resolved,” said the hospital Superintendent N. K. Chaturvedi.
Meanwhile, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya has initiated precautionary action after a Class 9 student of the school, who returned to the Capital after a vacation in Singapore, tested positive for swine flu on Wednesday.
School principal Anuradha Joshi said: “The girl’s parents had called the teachers to inform that she has tested positive for H1N1 influenza. In an emergency meeting our medical panel advised that we should ask her classmates and all those who came in close contact with her to stay at home for a week.”
