School of Open Learning admission from June 1

The admission process to various under-graduate courses at Delhi University's School of Open Learning will begin from June 1. Students can apply to B.A. Programme, B.Com. B.A. (Honours.) English and Political Science and B. Com. (Hons.) courses.

The admission prospectus will be available from June 1 at the School of Open Learning on the North Campus and its South Study Centre at the Old Moti Lal Nehru College Building, Nanakpura, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all working days.

The South Study Centre will admit students for the B.A. Programme and B. Com. courses only.

The School of Open Learning also offers post-graduate courses in Hindi, Political Science, History, Sanskrit and M.Com. The prospectus for post-graduate courses will be available from May 16 at School of Open Learning on the North Campus and the South Study Centre. Candidates intending to take admission in post-graduate courses should register themselves on the North Campus.

The Delhi Technological University (DTU) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Samsung India Electronics Limited.

The understanding broadly covers four areas of collaboration namely, cooperation in knowledge sharing through in-house tutorials, sponsored doctoral and post-graduate programmes at DTU, internship opportunities for DTU students and joint research projects.

Samsung will recruit up to five student interns from DTU for six weeks on a paid stipend. They will be exposed to live projects. It may also hold up to 10 lectures for DTU students by senior officials to provide them with an industrial perspective. There is also a possibility of exploration of joint projects in the areas of software engineering/ software development. The agreement is also an attempt to bridge the gap between graduating engineering and professional engineers as well as reduce the gap between lab level research and the research required by the industry in developing new technologies.

DTU will impart in-house tutorials to Samsung employees regarding data structure, object oriented programming, software engineering and operating systems. Moreover, the university will also offer a customised M. Tech. programme on weekends.

Faridabad-based Manav Rachna International University has launched the International Centre for Outsourcing Studies under licence from BPO Certification Institute, Inc. United States.

The will enable the university to introduce a host of international certification and degree programmes in BPO and different areas of outsourcing. The university will offer Ph.D. programmes in outsourcing and research and consulting to the BPO industry.

Global Education Interact, an education fair organised by “The Chopras” will be held between May 19 and June 4 in 10 cities across India.

Into its eighth edition, the fair will witness the participation of 50 universities from seven countries. Academicians will be available to directly interact with students. Further, different institutions will assess the qualification and profiles of students, grant spot admissions or recommend admissions for the upcoming academic sessions.
