The student wing of Samajwadi Party on Sunday announced to launch a week-long campaign across the State against “commercialisation of education”.
“Both the governments at the Centre and the State are following the policy of commercialisation of education, depriving children belonging to minorities, poor families, backward classes and farming community of education,” State unit SP president Akhilesh Yadav told reporters here.
To highlight the issue, party's student wing Samajwadi Chattra Sabha would hold a campaign in all colleges and universities in the State between October 26 and November 1, he said.
“New universities are being set up in Uttar Pradesh in private sector, but the criteria for establishing such institutions are not clear,” Yadav said.
He alleged that the State government was least concerned with the plight of students and was only concentrating on statues and stones.- PTI
