NEW DELHI: Qualities of higher education in Russia were highlighted at an “Educational Fair” held here on Friday for the benefit of Indian students seeking admission in medicine, engineering, aviation, electronics and computer science.
Organised jointly by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) and the Russian Centre of International Education, the fair witnessed the participation of an eight-member Russian delegation led by Prof. Bazenov D.V., V-C of Tver State Medical Academy.
The delegates, representing different Russian institutions, guided students in facilitating admission to the faculties of their choice. The delegation will also visit Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Agra and Ahmedabad.
RCSC Deputy Director Gadzhi M. Akhmedov said the degrees and diplomas conferred by Russian universities and institutions are recognised everywhere and the medium of instruction is English.
Stating that Russian universities attract a large number of foreign students from across the world every year, Prof. Bazenov said: “So far, over 90,000 foreign students, among them 40,000 Indian students, have successfully completed higher educational courses in Russia. Medicine, engineering, Russian language and humanities are the subjects mainly chosen by foreign students. Apart from having highly qualified scientists and professors, the institutions offer much cheaper cost of higher education than in other countries.”
Members of the delegation said the economic and commercial ties between Russia and India require a large number of well-trained personnel. Higher education obtained by Indian students in Russia will enhance cooperation and promote partnership.
