NEW DELHI: The Bhartiya Patita Uddhar Sabha has alleged that G. B. Road in Kamla Market here, a red-light area, was cordoned off by the police on Sunday.

According to Khairati Lal Bhola of the BPUS, a large number of police personnel were deployed in the area around 2 p.m. and no one was allowed to either enter or come out of the “kothas”. “There is a fear among the residents that the police might evict them from their houses,” he said in a letter to Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, demanding that if it happens, the Government should provide them shelter.
