A translocated female rhino was allegedly killed by poachers and its horn removed in Assam’s Manas National Park.

The carcass of the rhino, which had recently given birth to a calf, was found near Kahitema under Bansbari range, Park officials said on Wednesday.

It was suspected that the animal was killed on Tuesday night as it was sighted on Tuesday afternoon.The rhino was translocated from Kaziranga National Park on March 12, 2012, under the Indian Rhino Vision-2020, and had given birth to a calf on March 20 this year. - PTI
