With Ramlila Maidan becoming a hub of activity because of Anna Hazare's protest against corruption, the Delhi Metro has been the most favoured mode of public transport, leading to an increase in weekend ridership.

According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation spokesperson, the ridership on August 14 was 11.09 lakh, while a week later it was 14.21 lakh, an increase of over 3 lakh.

The New Delhi metro station that is the closest to Ramlila Ground saw a record increase in daily average ridership. “While the average daily ridership at the station is 40,000, this Saturday it saw a footfall of 61,000 followed by 78,000 on Sunday,” said the spokesperson.
