The State Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday arrested an officer of the Rajasthan Administrative Service red-handed accepting a bribe.
Abha Jain, a RAS officer of the 1988 batch, was arrested late on Monday night from her residence accepting a bribe of Rs.23,000.
The officer was produced before a court on Tuesday, which remanded her to judicial custody till November 25th. The court will decide on her bail application today (Wednesday).
Ms. Jain is currently posted as the Deputy Chief Protocol Officer in the State secretariat in Jaipur.
The case of bribery pertains to her previous post as the Regional Transport Officer here.
“The complainant Lalit Kumar Sharma had approached the bureau alleging that the officer had asked him for a bribe in return for issuing a work order towards appointment of a contract-based computer operator,” said Smita Shrivastava, I-G Anti-Corruption Bureau.
“A team from the bureau verified the complaint and organised a trap during which the officer was arrested from her residence accepting the bribe,” said Ms. Shrivastava.
