With political parties bitten by the rally bug in Uttar Pradesh in the build-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party is to hit the poll trail soon with rallies in all the divisions in the State.

The main speaker in these rallies will be Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and other leaders in support roles.

According to the decision taken at the Wednesday meeting of the State Parliamentary board, presided over by Mr. Yadav, 18 rallies have been planned. The first will be held in Azamgarh on October 29. Party spokesman and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rajendra Chaudhary said the achievements of the Akhilesh Yadav government will be highlighted in these rallies.

Meanwhile, the party has replaced its Ghazipur Lok Sabha poll candidate Radhey Mohan Singh with Shivkanya Kushwaha, wife of tainted ex-Bahujan Samaj Party Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha.

Mr. Kushwaha is in jail for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore National Rural Health Mission scam in the State.
