Rajasthan Revenue Minister Hemaram Chaudhary on Thursday said each village in the State with a population of 250 would be declared a “revenue village” for facilitating its development through proper infra-structure and basic amenities.
Addressing a public function in Tonk, Mr. Chaudhary said he had authorised the village panchayats to adopt resolutions in favour of the revenue status and submit them to the State Government. “The new arrangement would also be applicable to the hamlets within one-km radius of the [original] village.”
Mr. Chaudhary said the State Government was committed to developing the rural areas to bring them at par with the towns in terms of basic facilities. The status of revenue village would automatically bring official facilities as well as posting of new officers to take care of different aspects of development, he added.
According to an official release, the Minister called upon the elected representati- ves to publicise pro-poor policies among the villagers to extend their benefit to the maximum number of people.
