In order to tackle the summer rush of passengers, Northern Railway has made various arrangements to check malpractices and allow smooth running of trains including the existing and newly introduced summer special trains which would run about 1,600 trips in all.

According to Northern Railway, senior railway officials and staff have been deputed to look into the activities of the staff at the counters and surveillance cameras would be used to detect persons frequently coming to ticket counters for reservation or cancellation.

Drive against touts and unauthorised travel agencies has also been intensified .

Passengers travelling on transferred tickets would be prosecuted under criminal cases.

A Northern Railway official said: “Instructions have also been issued to handling staff to ensure that general class coaches including latches of emergency windows are locked when rakes arrive at the platforms and that the RPF personnel monitor the queues of passengers entering general coaches to avoid stampede.”
