NEW DELHI: Some employees of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan held a demonstration outside the institute premises on Kasturba Gandhi Marg here on Saturday protesting against certain policies of the management.

The protestors demanded all employees retire at the age of 60, the promotional policy stipulated in the Fifth Pay Commission Report be followed strictly, a hospitalisation scheme be introduced, children of Class III and IV employees be provided free-of-cost education, discrimination in yearly medical allowance payment be removed, and duty hours, leave and holidays should be in accordance with the directions issued by the Directorate of Education.

A release by the protesting employees charged that the management had retained several employees after retirement and this had blocked the promotion prospects of younger employees.

Besides, they claimed that a number of employees who had been working on a temporary basis for several years are yet to be regularised.
