Two days after a 21-year-old Manipuri woman was found dead at her rented accommodation in South Delhi’s Chirag Dilli under mysterious circumstances, several North-Eastern residents living in the Capital, including her relatives, protested at the Malviya Nagar police station and accused the police of not treating it as a case of murder and approaching it as one of “confirmed suicide”.

The protesters said a couple of days before her death she complained about harassment by a relative of her landlord and that is what made them suspect that there was foul play behind her death and that they did not buy the explanation (nibbling by rats) given by the police about the injuries on the victim’s body.
