Members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha went on a ‘ Bhrashtachari UPA ki Baaraat’ march on Thursday to mark nine years of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule. The young wing of the BJP lampooned the senior party leaders and those accused in corruption cases to highlight alleged “scams running into billions of money and its corrupt practices”.
Organised by Delhi State Youth president Gaurav Khari, the march was led by BJYM president Anurag Singh Thakur and showcased a marriage procession with a band, horse and a groom while taking a dig at the Congress.
They also put garlands of currency notes around the neck of the ‘leaders’ being identified through photograph cut-outs.
The members of the march alleged that despite it being a peaceful procession, the Delhi Police used force and water canons against them and several party workers were arrested and detained at the Parliament Street police station. The BJYM also took out a report card of the UPA Government on issues of national importance, mostly rating the performance of the Government much below average and in some instances “fail” and “double fail”.
Meanwhile, the Delhi BJP will stage a dharna outside the Chief Minister’s residence on Friday to demand her resignation for her latest indictment by the Lokayukta for misusing public money for political campaigns.
