Opposing Union Minister Salman Khurshid's visit to the Aligarh Muslim University, the AMU Teachers' Association on Sunday announced that they will hold a black flag demonstration on Monday.

AMUTA General Secretary Mustafa Zaidi said that they had taken the decision as AMU V-C Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis was facing an enquiry for alleged financial irregularities and claimed that the Law Minister's visit on VC's invitation “would give legitimacy to him.” The Minister is the chief guest at Monday's commemoration meeting on Sir Syed Day celebrations.

Mr Zaidi said that teachers had written to the Prime Minister and the Law Minister urging them to rethink on the visit but “no response has been received till date.”

“Law Minister's decision to overrule the objections of the AMU community would raise doubts about the UPA'S commitment to fight corruption,” he said.
