NEW DELHI: Over 30 activists of the Anti-Monarchy United Democratic Front were detained by the Delhi police for holding a demonstration against King Gyanendra outside the Nepalese Embassy at Mandi House here on Thursday. They were later let off.
The protesters carrying placards gathered outside the Nepalese Embassy around 3-30 pm. but were removed within half-an-hour.
"We had been informed about the demonstration well in advance. Hence adequate security arrangements were in place at the embassy. We did not face any law and order problem as the demonstration was held peacefully," said a police officer.
Nevertheless, the police detained the protestors as the demonstration had been organised in a "no-tolerance zone".
