NEW DELHI: Four policemen were injured when a crowd, angry over the death of a local in a road accident, hurled stones at a police vehicle in Sangam Vihar here.

The accident took place in the morning when the stretch of a road caved in and a lorry overturned. A 42-year-old man, later identified as Suraj Prakash, was trapped under the lorry and died. When a police van reached the spot along with a crane to pull out the lorry, some locals started pelting stones at them. Four policemen sustained injuries in the incident and were taken to ESI Hospital. The situation was brought under control after some time. The lorry driver is absconding.
