New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the producer of Pazhassi Raja seeking a direction to those concerned to ensure that the movie is screened at the ongoing International Film Festival of India in Goa.
A Bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and S.S. Nijjar declined to interfere in a judgement of the Delhi High Court which had dismissed the producer’s plea.
The producer claimed that the film was denied entry arbitrarily though it ‘eminently qualified for a screening as it focussed on the struggle for freedom.’ The festival comes to a close on December 3.
Meanwhile, office-bearers of the Pazhassi Raja Charitable Trust demanded that the Centre cancel the panorama list for the festival. — PTI
