The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Narela) has issued a conditional order to 39 NDPL power consumers in Narela area of the Capital to remove unauthorised structures which are within dangerous proximity to overhead high-tension lines. The order notes that the built-up unauthorised, temporary and permanent structures under the HT lines are dangerous to both humans and animals and are a public nuisance.

Case filed

NDPL had filed the case against these consumers from Singhu, Libaspur, Akbarpur, Siraspur, Narela, Nagli Puna, Singhola, Pala, Samaypur and Badli villages for endangering lives through such unauthorised construction near overhead HT lines.

“We welcome the order by SDM, Narela, since it sets a precedent in the right direction. We have always maintained and acted against such illegal structures, extensions near electricity poles, HT lines since they pose a huge safety hazard. We have been sensitising all our consumers against such unsafe practices,” said an NDPL spokesperson.
