Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner P. C. Meena has directed closure of all paying guest accommodations and guest houses in the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) residential sectors here.
Issuing the orders, Mr. Meena said using a residential plot for commercial activities was not permitted under HUDA rules and therefore running of paying guest accommodations and guest houses in residential sectors was illegal. “The owners of these plots are availing of all civic amenities like electricity and drinking water at subsidised rates which are provided by the Government in residential sectors. Also, the commercial activities disturb the peace of the area residents,” said Mr. Meena.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the HUDA officials to serve notices on plot owners and warned of action against them in case of any lapses. Mr. Meena said commercial activities in HUDA sectors were allowed only on ground floors covering not more than 25 per cent of the area and “non-nuisance certificates” were issued for it.
According to HUDA Estate Officer Manoj Khatri, as many as 125 paying guest accommodations and guest houses were being run in new Gurgaon that comprises the area falling east of National Highway-8.
