Another pilot has been arrested by the Delhi Police Crime Branch for having allegedly used a forged mark-sheet to obtain a licence. Seven persons have been arrested so far for alleged involvement in procurement of pilot licence through fraudulent means.
It is learnt that pilot Abhishek Kaushik was arrested on Friday following purported confirmation that he had obtained the commercial pilot licence through fraudulent means. The police have secured his custody to identify those who had allegedly provided him fake documents.
According to sources, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has forwarded scores of names of pilots to the police on suspicion of having procured licence through fraudulent means.
Investigations into Abhishek Kaushik's purported complicity have so far not revealed any links with Pradeep Tyagi, who was earlier arrested on charges of obtaining a pilot licence through forged papers and also arranging licences for his clients through his contact in the DGCA. Hence, the suspicion that some other gang had supplied fake documents to Abhishek Kaushik.
A few days ago, the police had got Look Out Circulars opened against pilots Swaran Singh Talwar, Bhupinder Singh, Syed Habib and former flying instructor Deepak Asatkar, who went underground after the fraud was unearthed. The police suspect that Pradeep Tyagi, who was arrested along with Pradeep Kumar, an assistant director with the Aircraft Engineering Directorate of the DGCA, was the mastermind behind that racket.The DGCA official had allegedly disclosed that he had cleared 60 files of the candidates recommended by them.
