A 21-year-old non-resident Indian was battered to death during a farewell party of one of his friends in Kalkaji here late on Friday night. The police have been questioning the victim’s friends present in the party in this connection.
Anmol, who had returned from New York recently after completing his school, had gone to attend the farewell party of one of his friends, Chikki, at South Park Apartments in Kalkaji when the murder took place. The police received a call around midnight on Friday saying that an altercation had broken out in a flat in South Park Apartments. When the police team reached the spot, they found a young man, later identified as Anmol, seriously injured. He was taken to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, where he succumbed to injuries around 2 a.m.
He had an injury on the head probably caused by some blunt object, the police said.
Anmol met Chikki during his visit to India. Chikki was slated to fly to London to pursue higher studies and had asked Anmol to join him and his friends for a party on Friday night, the police said.
Anmol was also planning to go to Canada for a hotel management course in October.
A murder case has been registered at the Kalkaji Police station in this connection.
“We have been questioning the four people present in the party, but so far no breakthrough has been made. We have also questioned the guard and other people in this connection,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) P. Karunakaran.
