A notorious criminal allegedly involved in more than 30 cases of murder, dacoity and extortion has been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police.

Acting on a tip-off, the team laid a trap near Sarai Kale Khan bus stop on Friday and arrested Ravi Kumar, a resident of Nathupur in neighbouring Gurgaon. A country-made pistol and three live cartridges were allegedly seized from his possession.

Ravi carries a reward of Rs.15,000 on his head which had been announced by the Uttar Pradesh Police. He was wanted in connection with a robbery in Ghaziabad and a case of carjacking in Gurgaon.

Ravi, along with his two accomplices, allegedly robbed a Japanese national of his Honda City car at gun-point on July 6 last year.

A few days later, he along with his accomplices allegedly committed a dacoity in Ghaziabad and made off with Rs.80 lakh. The gang used the robbed Honda City car in the commission of crime.

Ravi, a school dropout, was first arrested in 1995 in connection with a theft in Gurgaon. In 1999, he came in contact with Mukesh and Hari Prakash in jail and started committing robberies and carjacking after being released. He would dispose of stolen cars to Kuldip Gadoli.

He along with his gang members allegedly shot dead Naresh in Gurgaon in 2004 to avenge the murder of their accomplice.

Ravi and his gang members used to escape to Nepal after commission of crime to avoid arrest.
