The former Bharatiya Janata Party president, Nitin Gadkari, was questioned by the Income Tax (I-T) authorities in Nagpur on Thursday. However, Mr. Gadkari’s office has denied any such development.

Mr. Gadkari’s PRO Chandan Goswami called the news “as another creation of media.” But sources confirmed that Mr. Gadkari was present in the I-T office for about four hours. He was to appear before the department on February 1.

But he said he had to attend a “BJP core committee meeting” on the same day and asked for an earlier date. Accordingly, he was questioned on Thursday evening. Mr. Gadkari came under scanner after the report of alleged irregularities in the Purti Group which he promoted.
