Historic victory attributed to hard work by senior party leaders

NEW DELHI: The newly-elected Congress Members of Parliament from Delhi were felicitated by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee at a function at Rajiv Bhawan here on Sunday. A large number of Congress workers assembled at the venue to welcome the newly elected MPs on a specially erected dais. The air was rent with slogans in praise of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Delhi Minister Kiran Walia were also present on the occasion. Welcoming the huge gathering, DPCC chief Jai Prakash Agarwal attributed the historic victory of the Congress in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls to the hard work put in by senior party’s leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Raul Gandhi. “Their enthusiastic campaigning encouraged the Congress workers to put in their best and ensure victory of all the seven Congress candidates from Delhi with impressive margins,” he added.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit also addressed the gathering and thanked the party workers for the impressive victory of the party candidates from Delhi. Among those present were New Delhi MP Ajay Maken, West Delhi MP Mahabal Mishra, North-West Delhi MP Krishna Tirath and Rohtas Nagar MLA Vipin Sharma.
