A new Shatabdi train between Chandigarh and New Delhi, the third between the two cities, will start running next month, Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said on Saturday.

The train will leave Chandigarh at 12 noon and reach New Delhi at 3-30 p.m. The return journey from New Delhi will be at 7-15 p.m. and it will arrive in Chandigarh at 10-30 p.m.

Currently, the first and the second Shatabdi trains leave for Delhi at 6-50 a.m. and 6-45 p.m. and depart from Delhi at 7-40 a.m. and 5-15 p.m.

Mr. Bansal said the demand for starting another inter-city train for the Golden Temple in Amritsar will be considered.

The existing super fast Chandigarh-Amritsar train will be provided a stop at Mohali in Punjab.

He also carried out an inspection of the Chandigarh railway station for the first time after assuming the charge of the Railway Ministry.
