Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari on Saturday announced that he would contest the Chatra Lok Sabha seat as an Independent. Claiming that both the BJP and the JD(U) had offered him a ticket to contest from Chatra, Mr. Namdhari told reporters that he had refused JD (U) president Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s “missive” to join the JD(U), but expected a call from the BJP. “BJP leaders had offered the seat sometime back. But as soon as I came to know that Chatra has been given to the JD(U), I thought it proper to announce my candidature as Independent,” Mr. Namdhari said.
