The body was found stuffed in a sack at Shahdara earlier this month

Clue found from plastic sheet inside sack that bore the name, address of its manufacturer

Investigations led police to Babloo’s house — last person to receive consignment sent in the sack

NEW DELHI: Two young men have been arrested on charges of killing a man whose body was found stuffed in a sack at Shahdara here earlier this month. A hunt has been launched for the third accused.

The police received information on Tuesday morning about foul smell emanating from a sack. They found the body of a young man inside it. The legs of the victim were tied up with a rope. Ligature marks around the neck of the deceased suggested that he had been strangled. There were blunt injury marks on the face, ribs and the back of the victim.

The police found a plastic sheet inside the sack that bore the name and Ahmedabad address of its manufacturer. They contacted the manufacturer and found that a consignment of jeans wrapped in such a plastic sheet had recently been sent to the Okhla Industrial Area. The recipient informed that the consignment was further sent to Geeta Colony, from where it was despatched to Kabir Nagar.

The last person to receive the consignment was identified as Babloo. He was not found in his house, following which the police questioned his brother Abdul Sattar about the consignment. They also showed him the photograph of the deceased. Abdul identified the deceased as Tohid, a resident of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, and disclosed that Tohid used to live with his elder brother Waqar at Loni. Waqar identified the body as Tohid’s.

Suspecting Abdul’s involvement, the police interrogated him further. He broke down and allegedly confessed to his involvement. Abdul told the police that about three years ago Tohid had murdered his cousin in Badaun. He was arrested in that case and sent to jail. However, after being released he started harassing Abdul and his family.

This past Monday Tohid came to Abdul’s house allegedly drunk. He allegedly started abusing him, his brother Babloo and their relative Naeem. At this, the three overpowered Tohid and allegedly strangled him with a cotton rope. They stuffed the body in a sack and dumped it.

At Abdul’s instance, the police have arrested Naeem and launched a hunt for Babloo.
