NEW DELHI: An inspector with the Motor Licensing Department and a tout have been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi Government on charges of demanding and accepting Rs.5,000 to give clearances for registration of auto-rickshaws.

Acting on a tip-off that Inspector Rakesh Vadya used to demand Rs.5,000 from each auto-rickshaw applicants through a tout, the ACB sleuths sent a decoy and carried out a sting operation. Based on the findings, Inspector Vadya and the tout, Sanjay, were arrested.

In another development, Om Prakash Malik, an assistant engineer with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi wanted in a corruption case, gave himself up to the ACB officials over the weekend. The agency has obtained his three days remand.
