NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leader Vijay Jolly was allegedly attacked and robbed by a gang of miscreants during a recent visit to London.
In a statement, Mr. Jolly said he was assaulted and relieved of his handbag in upmarket Norfolk Square near Paddington Station on February 4.
“I was assaulted and robbed and registered a telephonic complaint with the Westminster Crime Management Unit, but the police did not visit the crime scene or make an attempt to contact me,” he charged.
Mr. Jolly said it was unprofessional of the London Metropolitan Police to adopt a “callous attitude” in dealing with his complaint.
“I have travelled overseas regularly during the past 25 years and I have never been duped or robbed like this. I hope such an incident does not occur with any other Indian travelling abroad,” he added.
The BJP MLA from Saket has written to the British High Commissioner in New Delhi, Richard Stagg, informing him of the attack and robbery.
