NEW DELHI: In a bizarre incident, a minor girl died after her head hit the dashboard of a car as the driver suddenly applied the brakes in Jaffarpur Kalan here on Thursday. Ten-year-old Ashu was on her way home in Ishepur village in the car along with her mother when the driver suddenly applied the brakes to avoid a collision with another car in the afternoon. The girl hit her head against the dashboard and sustained injuries. She was declared brought dead at Rao Tula Ram Hospital. The hospital authorities later informed the police.

A case has been registered against the driver, who is yet to be identified.

“Prima facie it appears that the girl had not fastened the seat belt. We have registered a case against the driver under Section 279 (rash driving) and 304 (A) (causing death due to negligence). He will be soon arrested,” said a senior police officer.
