There was a heavy rush of passengers on the Delhi Metro rail network on Saturday. Unable to cope with the huge turnout of people, the railway had to restrict entry at Rajiv Chowk station in Connaught Place for some time in the evening.
Delhi Police personnel were also seen assisting in crowd management at Rajiv Chowk station. The heavy rush was attributed to the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan.
According to Metro officials, over 50,000 tickets for the trade fair were sold at Pragati Maidan station and the footfalls till 7 p.m. at the station totalled 108,000. The ridership till 8 p.m. was 12.14 lakh, which was more than last Saturday's 11.75 lakh.
