NEW DELHI: Municipal Corporation of Delhi Standing Committee chairman Ram Kishan Singhal on Wednesday said the Union Government had sanctioned several of the civic body’s schemes under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission amounting to Rs.1,436.32 crore.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Singhal said these schemes include development of multi-level underground parking lots, improvement and strengthening of roads, construction of grade-separators, foot over-bridges and re-modelling of drains.

“An amount of Rs.469.80 crore has been sanctioned for development of multi-level underground unconventional parking at various locations under the jurisdiction of the MCD. The provision for the total number of cars to be parked is 5,443 across 16 parking sites. Of these, work has been awarded in five cases and tenders have been received in another five cases. The tenders have been invited in four cases and proposals have been dropped in two cases.”
