A man who allegedly helped the owner of the contract carriage bus used in the gang-rape last month obtain a registration certificate and permit by using a fake address has been arrested here in the Capital.

Bus owner Dinesh Yadav, arrested earlier this month, had submitted false information about his Delhi address to the State Transport Department. According to the Department’s records, the address of Noida-based Yadav has been mentioned as Kamalpur at Burari in North Delhi.

“During interrogation, Yadav told the police that he had submitted a ration card as proof of his Burari address, which was fraudulently obtained from one Rakan Singh. At his instance, Rakan was arrested at a photocopy shop,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sindhu Pillai.

Rakan charged money to arrange for the ration card.
