NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old man reported abducted from Sultanpuri here in 2001 has been traced by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police in Ahmedabad. As it turned out, his brother had allegedly lodged a false complaint.
According to the police, Vijay Kumar lodged a complaint with the Sultanpuri police on July 28, 2001, that three of his neighbours and their accomplices had abducted his brother Gyanesh, who was then 16 years old.
The case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Section of the Crime Branch following a High Court directive in 2005.
As investigations later indicated, it was not a case of abduction. On Friday, the police finally tracked down Ganesh in Ahmedabad.
