Thrown off third floor over food bill

Not paying a Rs.180 food bill cost a 30-year-old man dear as he was thrashed and thrown off the third floor of a building in INA market here on Wednesday allegedly by the owner of the restaurant and some of the staff members. The owner of the restaurant is absconding, said police sources.

On the night of the incident, victim Deepak had gone to the restaurant with two relatives where he had an argument over payment of the bill. “ Restaurant staff members started beating them up. To pacify them, Deepak told them to come to his house and settle the bill. Upon reaching the house, the bill was paid but the argument continued and the hotel staff left the house. They came a little later and started thrashing Deepak,” said a source.

The family members have alleged that after this they took Deepak to the third floor of the restaurant and pushed him down. The victim was taken to the AIIMS where he was declared brought dead.
