CPI (M) workers organised dharnas and demonstrations in various districts of Haryana on Tuesday demanding an effective Lokpal legislation.

Addressing workers near the mini-Secretariat in Rohtak, State party secretary Inderjit Singh said the protests across the country reflected the accumulated anger of various sections of people against corruption, price rise, unemployment and criminalisation.

He said the leaders and elected representatives belonging to the Left parties had a clean record in public life “but this fact was regrettably being ignored by the mainstream media”.

Other speakers highlighted the need for other steps besides the Lokpal for effectively dealing with all forms of corruption.

Protests were also organised jointly by the CPI (M) and the CPI in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, Jind, Panipat, Karnal, Kaithal, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Panchkula and other district centres, he said.
