Lone Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) MLA and HJC-BJP candidate Kuldeep Bishnoi on Wednesday filed his nomination for the Hisar Lok Sabha by-election which was necessitated after the death of his father and sitting MP Bhajan Lal.
Mr. Bishnoi reached the office of the District Electoral Officer Amit Kumar Aggarwal driving a tractor.
He was accompanied by a large number of BJP and HJC workers.
Former MPs Dharampal Singh Malik and Ramji Lal (HJC), former Congress MLA Amir Chand Makkar besides BJP national secretary Abhimanu, Haryana BJP chief Kishan Pal Gujjar, former Union Minister I. D. Swami, former BJP MPs Kishan Singh Sangwan and Sudha Yadav and senior BJP leader Ram Bilas Sharma were also present.
Mr.Bishnoi told media persons: “The large turnout of BJP and HJC workers would ensure my victory as it clearly indicates that the alliance between the two parties has been ratified by the voters.''
There were traffic jams in Hisar especially near the Civil Secretariat where Mr. Bishnoi filed his nomination papers.
Mr. Bhajan Lal, a former Chief Minister and erstwhile Congress “`strongman'', died in June this year.
The main candidates in the fray for the October 13 by-poll are former Union Minister Jai Parkash (Congress) and Indian National Lok Dal MLA and party secretary-general Ajay Singh Chautala.
