In a scathing attack on the BJP and the Samajwadi Party for aiming at “communal polarisation”, Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Saturday likened the Muzaffarnagar communal violence to a “trailer of the BJP and SP’s agenda for the 2014 poll”.

“The communal clashes have unfolded the BJP’s real strategy,” he said, adding that in 2014 “the actual electoral contest of the Congress will be against the RSS and not the BJP. It is for the first time that the RSS has emerged from behind the curtain; the BJP is only a frontal organisation of the Sangh.”
