A haat bazaar for women's self-help groups organised by the Rajasthan Government's Women & Child Development Department ended here over the weekend with a pledge to promote education and entrepreneurship among women with the objective of bringing self-sufficiency to them.

Terracotta products, handicraft items, hand-made apparatuses, papier-mâché artefacts and spices were sold in a huge quantity during the week-long bazaar at Jawahar Kala Kendra. Visitors evinced keen interest in the wide range of products and sought to know the process for their manufacturing.

Minister of State for Women & Child Development Manju Meghwal, who visited the haat , said such fairs would provide a forum to the women's SHGs for display of their products and encourage them to take up self-employment ventures as a means for their empowerment. She also distributed prizes to winners in different competitions.
