The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Monday announced that Sarfi Bai and Ram Singh Baswana would contest the upcoming Haryana Assembly by-elections from Ratia and Mandi Adampur respectively. Polling for both seats is scheduled for November 30.
Making the announcement, former Chief Minister and INLD supremo Om Parkash Chautala said Ms. Sarfi Bai is the widow of Gian Chand Odh whose death in September necessitated the by-election in Ratia.
He said retired District and Sessions Judge Ram Singh Baswana is being fielded for the Mandi Adampur seat.
The by-election in Mandi Adampur was necessitated after sitting MLA and Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) chief Kuldeep Bishnoi resigned on being elected to the Lok Sabha last month.
The HJC-BJP alliance has already announced that Renuka Bishnoi, wife of Mr. Bishnoi, would contest from Mandi Adampur while BJP leader Mahavir Prasad has been selected for the Ratia seat.
The Hisar Lok Sabha seat had fallen vacant after the death of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal in June this year.
