NEW DELHI: The Indian Red Cross Society is all set to take another initiative to promote public health awareness by launching a 50-hour certificate course (three-month part-time programme) in health promotion through Ayurveda and Yoga.

The initiative, supported by the Central Department of Ayush in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, will be conducted in collaboration with the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Delhi.

Improving lifestyle

According to Indian Red Cross Society secretary-general Dr. S. P. Agarwal, “The aim of the course is to help improve lifestyle management through the ancient sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga for healthy living at the individual and community level.”

“Stress, fatigue and other psychosomatic disorders are becoming common with greater frequency and leading to several other serious diseases. We wish to address these disorders in a scientific way through this course. We have received nearly 700 applications for the course and screening to select 50 was a big challenge,” he adds.
