Door-to-door campaigning, big speeches and unique ways of winning votes are all fine, but they mean nothing without some amount of decent news coverage. This is where the Congress and the AAP seem to be losing out to the BJP.
Ironically, accessing leaders from these two parties is proving to be relatively more difficult for correspondents covering the elections.
“How will you reach the people if you reject the simplest method of doing so?” wondered a journalist, pointing out that while the BJP has been using its well-oiled media machinery to good effect, others are lacking in it. The argument being that citizens who make the effort to get themselves a voter identity card and stand in line to vote usually are informed not by thepoliticians but by picking up the newspaper or switching on the news channels.
