Weakening of the monsoon in North India gave way to hot and sultry conditions in the Capital on Wednesday, as the mercury soared two notches above normal.

The maximum temperature for the day was 36 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while the minimum was 23.5 degrees, one notch below normal, Meteorological Department officials said. The humidity level hovered between 87 per cent and 35 per cent.

The weatherman has forecast mainly clear sky for Thursday with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to remain 35 and 23 degrees Celsius respectively. — PTI
