Several people across the city found their names missing from the voters’ list on Wednesday, with some professors in Hindu College lodging a police complaint against the Delhi Chief Election Commission and other officials. “It appears that it is a deliberate, mala fide and mischievous act on the part of the officials of the Delhi Election Commission, possibly under some unethical influence,” reads the first information report.

“We went to the polling booth to cast our vote and we found that our names were deleted from the list without any information or intimation. This is a clear violation of our fundamental rights. We could not get through any of the helplines advertised by the Election Commission,” said Associate Professor Poonam Sethi.
