Members of Sikh community on Saturday blocked Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in protest against an incident of alleged ill-treatment of a Sikh youth.
Around 100 members of the community blocked the highway at Rajbagh, about 80 km from here, in Kathua district for about half-an-hour, disrupting traffic.
They raised slogans against the State government and also burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the protest.
‘Stern action needed'
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) and several Kashmiri pandit organisations condemned the incident that occurred on Wednesday. They demanded stern action against the culprits and asked members of other communities to condemn such incidents. -- PTI
