On petition by its employee seeking quashing of a transfer order

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Airports Authority of India and others on a petition by one of its employees seeking quashing of an order transferring him out of Delhi and a direction to his employer for not taking any action on his application for voluntary retirement.

The petitioner, Rajbir Singh, through his counsel Surat Singh alleged that he had been forced to go in for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme.

Issuing the notice, returnable on July 14, the Court directed the AAI to consider the transfer of the petitioner to Jodhpur as well as his application for the retirement scheme on parity with the other employees who had approached the Court earlier.

Earlier the petitioner had submitted that the Airports Authority of India had taken a decision to reconsider all cases of transfer of its employees for their retention at Delhi and Mumbai airports till the outcome of the meeting of the Tripartite Committee was known.

He submitted that his case also be considered as per AAI decision.

As for the VRS, the petitioner submitted that he should also be extended the benefit of the Court order extending the last date to opt for the retirement scheme.

The Court had last month extended the last date for opting for the scheme from April 30, 2009, to May 30, 2009, the petitioner submitted.
